A 46-year-old man who used to be an imam in the Middle East has told underground ministry Bibles for Mideast how he embraced the Christian faith after he witnessed Jesus Christ saving his soul from the demons trying to take it.
Munaf Ali, whose real name has been withheld for security reasons, got a visit from Bibles for Mideast founder Pastor Paul Ciniraj and his companions in March 2016. They got into a heated discussion about the divinity of Jesus and the Bible's credibility, and the imam ended up cursing the missionaries, World Net Daily detailed.
Days later, Ali collapsed after coming home from Friday prayers at a mosque, and he reportedly saw demons trying to take his soul. He attempted to ward them off, but they insisted that they had the right to take his life and proceeded to forcefully claim his soul.
However, Ali said Jesus Christ arrived just when the demons were about to leave, and the latter fled right at that moment. Jesus also spoke to the imam and explained to him how sin entered the world because of Adam's disobedience and how he can gain access to eternal life in heaven.
"I rose from the dead and opened the gates of heaven to bring you to eternal glory. Have faith in me and be my witness," Jesus reportedly told Ali. "I give you your life back, for I have the authority to give life."
When Ali awoke, he saw that his family members were preparing to wash his body for burial, and they were shocked when he suddenly got up. He tried to tell them what happened, but they only thought he had lost his mind, hit his head or had been possessed.
Ali's family later came to believe his story, but they had to leave the country because of the persecution they suffered after that. Right now, the former imam is now working with Bibles for Mideast and had recently started leading a house church.
In a similar story published in July 2015, the World Watch Monitor described how a former Muslim cleric in East Africa called Tofik (not his real name) grew up being taught that Christians were bad and that they had to destroy non-Muslims. In 2002, he received a vision in which Jesus was clearly telling him to be His follower.
In the vision, Jesus also pointed Tofik to several Quranic verses, which all instructed the reader to believe in Christ. He later started going to church against the will of his family and tribe and was jailed because of false accusations. After being proved innocent in court, he was released from jail and became an instrument of salvation to more than 200 people in his community.
