Hillsong pastor Carl Lentz had encouraged pop stars Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez to reconcile, according to an insider, and the pair has since been seen together after the latter broke up with The Weeknd.
A source close to Gomez said she and Bieber started communicating via text messages when she was in the hospital for her kidney transplant. The two have already gotten back together after Pastor Lentz urged them to reconnect, The Sun revealed exclusively.
"He has been going to church every week and spends all his time with his pastor Carl Lentz - Carl has been encouraging 'reconciliation' between the two - to heal their friendship at least - and Justin basically has been asking her for her forgiveness this whole time," the insider said. "He's really cleaned up his life majorly, they consider each other their one true love."
Bieber and Gomez first broke up in November 2012, and the two were in an on-and-off relationship until they officially split in 2014. The year after that, the Canadian singer spoke to Billboard in an interview and explained that his connection with Gomez was the type of "love that never really dies."
Meanwhile, a source told Us Weekly that Gomez's breakup with The Weeknd was amicable and that it had nothing to do with Bieber. The insider also said the female pop singer "always had feelings" for Bieber.
In late October, Bieber and Gomez were seen at her house in Los Angeles. That happened merely days before Us Weekly confirmed that she had officially split from The Weeknd. The source added that the two had already matured through the years and were now ready to move on.
Previously, another insider had shared with Us Weekly that Bieber really wanted to rekindle his relationship with Gomez. He had reportedly been texting her and spent his free time with her.
