Unfortunately, there has not been an official announcement about the MacBook Air 2016 refresh. However, rumors are rife that it will possibly be unveiled before October ends.
Since its absence at the Sept. 7 Apple event in which iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus were introduced, fans of Apple laptops have been waiting for any sign that the Cupertino-based tech firm will still release another set of refresh by October.
According to the Japanese website Mac Otakara, a reliable source, which is a Chinese supplier, told them that the MacBook Air 2016 refresh will be launched alongside MacBook Pro 2016, in October. Shipping of the new products will begin "from the end of October."
Along with the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro models, Mac Otakara said that Apple will launch another 13-inch MacBook Air 2016. However, Apple will reportedly ditch the 11-inch MacBook Air variant for the 2016 refresh.
As has been earlier reported, MacBook Air 2016 is expected to sport the latest set of ports such as the reversible USB Type-C ports, the Thunderbolt 3 port that allows 40 GB per second computing speed, and Apple's very own 60-watt MagSafe 2.
It can also be remembered that the 2016 refreshes of MacBook Air and MacBook Pro are both speculated to feature a revamped trackpad to support a new version of Apple Pencil that might be based on a patent that was originally filed in November 2014. The patent describes a stylus pen that also works as a mouse or a joystick.
The patent for "Stylus with inertial sensor" describes the news function saying, "Inertial sensor data may be used to allow the stylus to operate as a joystick, a rotational controller, an air mouse, or other input devices in addition to serving as a touch sensor input device."
Even though Mac Otakara has a fairly decent record in sharing insider news about unreleased Apple products, tech fans definitely need to await official confirmation from Apple. Besides, there is less than two weeks left to see if these speculations will tally or not.
