Muslim migrants in Germany are bullying and persecuting Christian kids in refugee camps, according to a Roman Catholic priest who helps out in these locations.
In an interview with German radio broadcaster Deutschlandradio Kultur, 58-year-old Catholic priest Andreas Knapp revealed that some Muslims show disrespectful behavior toward Christian children in refugee camps. These young Muslims also reportedly hate believers from the Middle East.
Father Knapp, who works with underage migrants in Liepzig, cited one instance in which a Christian boy had to ask to be transferred to another school because Muslim classmates were bullying him so much. A 13-year-old Christian boy also told the priest that in another camp in Saxony, the Muslim kids were treating him like an outcast and even threatened him regularly, Breitbart News reports.
The boy told Knapp: "There were a lot of children who were all Muslims, and I was the only Christian. When I would go to them and say, 'Let's play football', they said, 'No, you're a Christian!'" He added, "Then they insulted me because I eat pork."
The situations that Knapp shared are not isolated, since there are already reports across the country about Christians being abused, harassed and targeted in violent attacks in refugee centers. Muslims who convert to Christianity are especially vulnerable to these acts. Because of this, suggestions have come up about having separate shelters for Christian migrants.
In some instances, Christian migrants trying to make their way to other countries from the Middle East or North Africa via smugglers' boats have experienced being beaten and robbed. Others have been drowned by their Muslim counterparts just because they prayed on the boat.
Knapp explained that Muslims see Christians as collaborators of the United States, United Kingdom and other Western countries because of their religion. This is where the hate stems from, the priest said.
