The season 2 of the worldwide hit-anime "Attack on Titan" was announced in 2015 to be released this year. Previous rumors suggested that it will debut on April 16, but now that has been proven to be untrue.

"Attack on Titan" season 2 was previously delayed to reportedly give the manga version time to get further ahead first. As reported by MoviePilot, the anime team is waiting for the manga to be four arcs ahead, which currently is still two arcs away. The anime was supposed to create original content, but is now sticking closely to the manga instead.

That and the fact that director Tetsurō Araki and the team are currently working on the ongoing series "Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress" fueled speculations that "Attack on Titan" season 2 is not bound to happen soon.

However, several reports indicate that productions are already underway. A more recent report by MoviePilot suggests that season 2 will premiere on the second half of 2016, but fans are advised to take this information with a grain of salt.

Meanwhile, several spoilers have cropped up, including the uncovering of the Reiss Family to be the real royal family, and that they all have the same ability as Eren's — the ability to turn into a titan. A character will also be revealed to not be who she seems to be and Hange Zoë will find out the secret behind the revelation at the ending of season 1.

"Attack on Titan" was released over three years ago and immediately became a worldwide sensation. Fans and critics praised its animation and the gripping and unique plot of humanity on the brink of extinction under the predation of titans. The news that season 2 has been delayed disappointed fans; however, the fact that it's coming sooner or later is enough to keep the fans of the show happy. An official announcement is expected to happen soon.
