In a post on Instagram, Perry shared a photo where she touched the hand of Pope Francis as he welcomed her in the Vatican. She said she was "honored to be in the presence of His Holiness" as Bloom stood behind her.

On Saturday, Perry also posted an Instagram Story video to tell her fans that she's in Rome to speak at the conference. People reported that aside from Bloom, the famous pop star also came to the Vatican with her mom, Mary Hudson, who is a pastor's wife.

Perry wore a black dress and a veil when she met Pope Francis. According to reports, the outfit is a traditional Vatican protocol for meeting the pontiff. The singer also met and exchanged pleasantries with Bishop Paul Tighe, the Secretary of the Pontifical Council for Culture, after her encounter with Pope Francis.

The singer's face-to-face meet with the pope comes as an 80-year-old nun, who has been battling the "California Girl" hitmaker since 2015 in court, appealed to Pope Francis in a letter to help with her case against Perry. Sister Rita Callanan asked him to look into the sale of their former convent property in Los Feliz, California.

Callanan and the rest of the sisters at the former Immaculate Heart of Mary apparently disagreed with Perry's lifestyle and favored a restaurateur as the convent property's new owner. The Los Felix court, however, ruled that the sale to Perry was completely legal.

Meanwhile, Pope Francis also spoke at the same conference in front of 500 participants from the health, religion, technology, entertainment and media sectors. He emphasized the urgency of healthcare among the poor and the marginalized.
