David Schmidgall loves shaping multi-lingual, multi-cultural, spiritually integrated spaces and people—through roles as executive director, pastor, spiritual director, trauma therapist, teacher, and artist. David earned his Masters in International Policy and is completing his residency in Psychotherapy. As an artist trained in Spiritual Direction, he's passionate about going deep as much as thinking wide about cultural transformation, solving intractable problems, and cultivating environments of human flourishing.
Among many of us there is a quiet yet unsettling recognition that the ways we’ve tried to broker good in the world often feel hurried, fragmented, and unsatisfying. A we try to live at a machine pace, the Kingdom moves like seed in soil, quietly, organically, sometimes unseen for a season, yet full of divine potential. To be a true blessing and effective witness it requires wise charity.
North America, and much of the Western world, is at a cultural inflection point, and many are hungering for something more humane, expansive, and full of light. Jesus calls his followers to show the way, to make the radical choice to walk his narrow path to meaningful fulfillment, but our churches and missions seem only interested in superficial change. That will not do. We must learn afresh what it means to be exiles and dissidents.
