The Assemblies of God has launched a new initiative to expand Pentecostal theological education for ministry leaders worldwide through fully online degree programs.

The Assemblies of God Theological Seminary (AGTS) at Evangel University in Springfield announced the launch of AGTS International, designed to make advanced theological training accessible “regardless of geographic or economic barriers,” according to AG News.

“We’re expanding access to the kind of theological depth and practical ministry training that has long distinguished AGTS,” said Wade Mumm, seminary vice president. “This initiative allows us to invest in leaders who are already shaping the future of the Church around the world.”

AGTS International offers online Master of Leadership and Ministry and Doctor of Ministry programs in English and Spanish. The courses are structured to help leaders serve effectively in their own contexts—urban or rural—without leaving their ministries, families, or communities.

The seminary highlighted several key features of the initiative. All programs are 100% online, allowing students to study from their home countries while continuing their existing ministry or employment. Tuition is also regionally adjusted for non-U.S. students to improve affordability and access.

The programs include faculty support and global mentoring, fostering a learning community among students from diverse cultural backgrounds. Bilingual course options in English and Spanish further extend accessibility.

“We’ve launched AGTS International because of our deep belief that every ministry practitioner deserves access to rigorous, Scripturally sound training that respects cultural context and the real constraints many global leaders face,” Mumm said.

According to AG News, the initiative positions AGTS “at the forefront of global theological education, bridging access, excellence, and mission across cultural lines.” It also aligns with Evangel University’s broader commitment to integrating faith, learning, and life in a global context.

Enrollment for the first AGTS International programs opens in fall 2026.

Evangel University, which marked its 70th anniversary in October, first opened its doors in September 1955.
