The 129th Allianzkonferenz (Alliance Conference), Germany’s oldest Bible conference, will take place July 30 to August 3, 2025, with a clear focus on the person of Jesus Christ as its central theme.
Organized annually by the German Evangelical Alliance (Evangelische Allianz in Deutschland), the event will gather hundreds of Christians in the town of Bad Blankenburg, Thuringia, for five days of Bible teaching, fellowship, and discussion on faith and society.
“This year’s theme is ‘Focus Jesus,’ because Jesus is at the center of the letter to the Colossians, which we will be studying in 12 Bible sessions,” said Reinhardt Schink, chair of the German Evangelical Alliance, in comments to Christian Daily International. “With Jesus at the center, our lives succeed—both personally and for us as a society.”
“At this year’s Alliance Conference, which incidentally is the oldest Bible conference in Germany, the letter to the Colossians will be exegeted in 12 Bible studies and its relevance for us today will be demonstrated,” said Schink.
“Because Jesus is at the center of the letter to the Colossians, the motto of the 129th Alliance Conference is ‘Focus Jesus’.
“With Jesus at the center, our lives succeed - both personally and for us as a society.
“Living our faith in everyday life and confessing Jesus as Lord in our society is the most valuable and attractive thing that Christians can offer their fellow human beings in these challenging times.”
The conference will see more than 40 workshops and seminars presenting a variety of topics of relevance to evangelicals, such as politics and pastoral issues. Attendees will also be able to access the Stadhalle Alliance Fair where Christian organizations will present their work at trade style stalls.
A family festival is also planned during the week alongside a children’s sports program.
The Bible and faith conference was founded in 1886 by writer Anna von Weling, who also established a diaconal center with an orphanage, and has its spiritual origins in the beliefs of the Evangelical Alliance.
Speakers during the conference week include EAD chair Reinhardt Schink, as well as Siegfried Winkler, Stephanie Mittelbach, and Sarah Stopp.
Last year, Frank Heinrich, former co-leader of the EAD, spoke about the culture of the yearly Alliance conference celebrating the five elements of the evangelical alliance movement: prayer, the importance of the Bible, unity, evangelism and speaking into the world.
For many attendees, the event is the highlight of their summer, or even year, added Heinrich, at the time.
“They like to have something more than their church, and something different and it’s a bit of a holiday week but digging deep into the Bible and there’s fellowship. It’s about hanging out together, encouraging Christians in their lifestyle and giving them the inner provision that they are not alone.”
The conference alternates Bible study themes each year between the Old and New Testaments – last year it was the book of Ruth on the theme “where you go.”
“Each year we pick a book of the Bible and go to it, and ask teachers from all kinds of backgrounds to give us a talk, to give a deeper understanding and application,” explained Heinrich.
Heinrich pointed out it was not “a leaders conference” for church ministers but an open event for regular churchgoers.
“In Germany, the principle of the EA is to involve not just leaders of churches but members of churches, more of a grass roots idea. We don’t have a leadership conference but instead call it a Bible conference where we enjoy time together.”
