Historian and international speaker Cristian Rodrigo Iturralde has released a new Spanish-language book, Mentiras: 12 mitos sobre el cristianismo histórico que la izquierda quiere que creas (“Lies: 12 Myths About Historic Christianity the Left Wants You to Believe”), aiming to dismantle what he says are common misconceptions used to discredit the Christian roots of Western civilization.
According to Christian publisher HarperCollins, the book — available in print, eBook, and audiobook formats — offers an intellectual defense of the Christian legacy through historical evidence and analysis. With a rigorous approach, Iturralde challenges long-held claims that Christianity opposes science, culture, human rights, and women’s dignity.
Structured in 12 chapters, the work addresses controversial historical subjects including the Crusades, the Inquisition, slavery, and sexuality. Iturralde says the project is intended not only to inform but also to inspire moral courage.
“This book is not just an act of remembrance; it is an invitation to courage,” he writes. “Without a clear understanding of the past, we lose the ability to defend our identity, our convictions, and our faith.”
The author, recognized for his work on the philosophy of history and Christianity, frames the book as a resource for readers seeking to counter what he calls “ideological colonization through falsifications of the past.”
Iturralde’s previous works have drawn endorsements from high-profile figures. His book 1492 was recommended by Brazilian intellectual Olavo de Carvalho, and his study of the Frankfurt School received a special mention at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) 2023 in Brazil. He has also received support from speaker and author Agustín Laje and Brazilian congressman Eduardo Bolsonaro.
