Renowned speaker Nick Vujicic delivered a pre-recorded video message to the Ibero-American Congress for Life and Family, currently taking place in Montevideo. In his address, he shared his personal testimony and encouraged attendees to stand firm in defending Judeo-Christian values amid an increasingly challenging global context.
“The world seeks happiness and hope in fleeting things like money, drugs, alcohol, or fame, but outside of our spiritual walk with God, there is nothing that truly fulfills,” Vujicic said at the start of his message, in which he recounted the deep personal crises he faced from childhood due to being born without limbs.
In his remarks, he recalled how at age 10 he attempted to take his own life, feeling that his existence lacked meaning. “I’m so glad that by the mercy and grace of God I’m still here, and to know that He will always give you the strength you need to overcome anything,” he shared, emphasizing that his faith was key to overcoming voices of discouragement and despair.
Following a transformative encounter with the Gospel, the international speaker explained how his outlook changed completely. “Jesus conquered sin and death on the cross. And that’s the greatest disability that has been overcome—not the physical one, but the disability of sin and death,” Vujicic reflected, noting that his purpose went beyond what is visible and was grounded in his identity as a child of God.
He also addressed current cultural and social pressures facing those who hold pro-life and pro-family positions. He said he was a victim of cancel culture in 2019 because of his Christian convictions. “I received letters and emails from major corporations demanding that I say I’m not anti-LGBTQ in the media, and they froze my bank accounts,” he recounted, pointing to the growing restrictions faced by those who defend conservative views.
As a result of that experience, he described how a pro-life financial alternative was launched in the United States. “In February 2019, I was invited to co-found a banking solution, and eight weeks later, my bank account was canceled. Today we have ProLife Intech,” he said, highlighting the importance of building alternatives aligned with Christian values.
Vujicic expressed enthusiasm for the pro-life and pro-freedom awakening taking place across Latin America. He especially praised Paraguay’s leadership and encouraged countries in the region to pursue common agreements. “I’m very excited about Latin America and to see this movement of people rising up to defend freedom and the family,” he said.
In closing, Vujicic urged attendees to remain steadfast in their faith and personal calling. “May God bless you, strengthen you, and help you do what He has asked you to do—without comparing yourself to anyone or worrying about what others say. Just do what God told you,” he concluded.
