Thirty-five Brazilian Marine Corps recruits were baptized on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Brasília Air Base. According to an Instagram post, the ceremony took place in a swimming pool and was led by three military chaplains representing different branches of the armed forces.

The ceremony was led by pastors Claudio Britto, of the Brazilian Air Force; Manassés, of the Army; and Sylmar, of the Navy. Britto shared a video of the event on Instagram, highlighting the joint participation of representatives from all three branches.

During the ceremony, the recruits publicly professed their Christian faith before being baptized by immersion. The event also included a time of worship and expressions of joy among the participants.

The young men are undergoing training to become members of Brazil’s Marine Corps, known as the Corpo de Fuzileiros Navais. According to official Navy information, the training lasts 17 weeks and is conducted on a residential basis. It takes place at the Admiral Milcíades Portela Alves Instruction Center in Rio de Janeiro and the Brasília Training and Instruction Center. The Marine Corps prepares for amphibious operations and also participates in peacekeeping missions and humanitarian assistance.

The Brazilian Air Force provides religious support to military personnel and their families. In a March 2026 publication, the service explained that its activities include religious services, pastoral counseling, baptisms and support for personnel and their families. The institution also noted that its Religious Assistance Service operates in 26 military garrisons across the country.
