'Church Dog Adventures' book unveiled in Kenya to teach children about the Gospel and mission work

Church Dog
This faith-based adventure takes young readers to Kenya, introducing them to local culture and Christian mission work happening in the East African nation

A Christian children’s book series has released its first international version seeking to reach children across the globe with the message of the Gospel. “Church Dog Adventures in Kenya” is the first installment in the “Church Dog Around the World” series.

This faith-based adventure takes young readers to Kenya, introducing them to local culture and Christian mission work happening in the East African nation. The book continues Church Dog’s mission of making faith conversations accessible for children, showing them “how easy it is to talk about Jesus.”

“We created this series to help children understand that Jesus’s love reaches every corner of Earth,” says Tracy Mattes, author and creator of the Church Dog series. “Church Dog guides young readers through cultural discoveries while introducing them to friends who share their faith.”

The book, written in English and Swahili, includes an interactive element where each book includes a QR code linking to the animated music video “Let’s Talk About Jesus,” featuring children from around the world singing in front of iconic landmarks.

The Church Dog series has gained popularity among Christian families, churches, and homeschool educators for presenting faith concepts in child-friendly ways. This global series expands that mission by introducing young readers to international Christian communities.

“Children will learn that despite cultural differences, Jesus’s love connects us all,” adds Mattes. “Our hope is that kids will join Church Dog as he spreads joy and faith worldwide.”

The series is centered on a puppy sent from heaven to teach people about the true nature of God's unconditional love. With supernatural eyes that allow it to see people the way Jesus does, the Church Dog's mission is to help God's children understand their unique identity as precious and special.

“Church Dog Adventures in Kenya” features an age-appropriate introduction to Kenyan culture, simple explanations of mission work and colorful illustrations that capture children’s imagination.

While unveiling the book in a school in Kenya, Mattes said the children were excited to have their own copy of Church Dog and to “hear how precious they are in Jesus’ eyes.” The former Olympic athlete hopes that the Church Dog series will introduce an entire generation of children to Jesus.

The book is designed for children ages 4-11 “but can be enjoyed by the entire family” serving as both an entertaining story and a teaching tool for parents, Sunday school teachers, and Christian educators.

“Church Dog Adventures in Kenya” is available at www.churchdog.org and select Christian bookstores nationwide.
