Prison Fellowship International and Bible League International announced a new five-year agreement to provide 620,000 Bibles to prisoners in 20 countries.

The initiative builds on a partnership that began in 2019, which has already supplied more than 570,000 Bibles to inmates who completed Prison Fellowship International’s in-prison program, The Prisoner’s Journey. The program is offered in more than 700 prisons worldwide and aims to introduce inmates to the Christian faith.

The Bibles, distributed in eight languages, are tailored for incarcerated readers and include 52 study lessons addressing challenges faced in prison life. Bible League International currently supplies more than 70% of the Bibles needed for program graduates.

“Through this partnership, prisoners who come to know Jesus through our in-prison programs are equipped to grow in their faith through a Bible that they can understand,” Frank Lofaro, vice president of global impact at Prison Fellowship International, said in a statement.

Jonathan Adams, senior vice president of program development at Bible League International, said the collaboration helps reach “some of the most marginalized people in the world with the truth of Scripture.”

Prison Fellowship International, founded in 1979, works through a global network of ministry partners to support prisoners, their families and victims of crime. Bible League International, founded in 1938, supplies Scripture resources and training to churches in under-resourced communities worldwide.
