Dallas Jenkins, creator of the global hit series The Chosen, is bringing the story of Jesus to a new generation through an animated spinoff, The Chosen Adventures. The 14-episode series, premiering Oct. 17 on Prime Video, reimagines the world of The Chosen through the eyes of children—inviting families everywhere to experience faith with fresh curiosity and joy.

In an interview with The Christian Post, Jenkins said the inspiration behind the series comes from his desire to keep faith rooted in the wonder and openness of a child. “I never want to stop being curious,” Jenkins shared. “Yes, there are biblical principles that define my life and never change, but my understanding of them and my ability to relate to others—I want that curiosity to keep growing. I think that’s what Jesus meant when He told adults to have the faith of a child.”

Created by Ryan Swanson and executive produced by Jenkins, The Chosen Adventures follows 9-year-old Abby and her best friend, Joshua, as they encounter Jesus in the ancient city of Capernaum. The series combines humor, imagination, and biblical storytelling to help children—and their parents—see faith in a new light.

The show features an impressive voice cast, including Yvonne Orji, Grammy Award-winning artist Jordin Sparks, and The Chosen stars Jonathan Roumie and Elizabeth Tabish.

While The Chosen Adventures embraces a lighthearted and colorful animation style—complete with talking animals and moments of playful comedy—Jenkins emphasized that its heart remains deeply faithful to Scripture. “There’s a bit of a heightened reality—yes, animals talk, and the animation exaggerates moments—but we never want to stray from biblical truths,” he said. “Even in this playful format, we wanted Jesus to feel authentic, to reflect the character we know from the Gospels.”

Jenkins said the series reflects one of his favorite episodes from The Chosen’s first season, where Jesus interacts with children and encourages them never to lose their sense of wonder. “Kids like Abby ask questions—they’re curious, and that’s beautiful,” he said. “We need that in our faith, too.”

Jordin Sparks said she was immediately drawn to the project because of its unique mix of humor and faith. “I love anytime I can connect what I do for a living—acting, humor—with something that infuses the world with a little more Jesus,” she told The Christian Post. “Every character, even the animals, has a kind of come-to-Jesus moment. The show reminds us that God isn’t afraid of our questions—He welcomes them.”

With The Chosen Adventures, Jenkins hopes to reach audiences of all ages—offering a show that entertains while inviting viewers to rediscover what it means to approach God with awe and openness.

“I hope parents who watch it with their children see faith through that lens again—the excitement of discovery,” Jenkins said.
