The Ibero-American Confederation of Communicators, Pastors, and Christian Leaders (COICOM) has announced the appointment of Pastor Dr. Mynor Vargas as its new Chairman of the Board. The decision was made last week in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, during a board meeting held immediately after the closing of the organization’s 33rd International Congress.

Dr. Vargas succeeds COICOM co-founder Stan Jeter, who recently stepped down from the position for health reasons, leaving behind a significant legacy in Christian communication across Latin America and beyond.

According to Vargas, the appointment came as an unexpected surprise. He recalled that on Friday (Sept. 12), while saying goodbye to ministry leaders including Dr. Alberto Mottesi and Stan Jeter with his wife Rhoda, he was called back by the board. “Fifteen minutes later, upon returning, the Board surprised me by asking me to sit down and listen to Secretary General Napoleón Ardaya and Executive President Arnold Enns for a special statement,” Vargas said.

At that moment, he was informed the decision had already been officially recorded in the general minutes and that, effective immediately, he would assume leadership as Chairman of the Board.

In his first remarks, Vargas expressed deep gratitude and humility at the new responsibility. “Beyond eternally thanking divine grace for entrusting me with such a high honor and continental responsibility,” he said, “I give all the glory to God.” He cited Psalm 115:1: “Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name be the glory, because of your mercy and your truth.” He concluded with the Latin phrase Ad maiorem Dei gloriam — “To the greater glory of God.”
