EU issues warning to Pakistan about human rights

Pakistan’s preferential trade status could be jeopardized if it does not address human rights concerns, including controversial blasphemy laws, forced marriages/conversions of minority girls and freedom of religion, a European Union (EU) delegation said on Friday (Jan. 31).

Opinion

  • Antisemitism in Christian, Islamic, and Secular perspective

Christian, Islamic, and secular/atheistic perspectives and politics have shaped recent world history more than any other international movement. All three have produced widespread forms of antisemitism that have repeatedly intermingled, threatening the human rights of Jewish people. It is important that Christians understand the roots of antisemitism and resist it as an evil and an affront to God.

  • Christians should uphold freedom of belief for all including homosexuals

South Africa celebrates Pride Month during October even as persecution of homosexuals is rising in other African states. This should be of concern for Christians as freedom of belief has long been a commitment of Protestant Christians. It doesn’t mean Christians must agree with differing beliefs, but it does mean that we must support the human right of others to hold, practice, and celebrate their beliefs as we have the right to hold, practice, and celebrate ours.
